I want to remind people that my Meet and Greet thread is always open!
Bloggers come and go, but if you are truly looking for new connections this link to my M&G is worth exploring. Best of luck to the networkers and bloggers out there, I appreciate the grind.
Not actually “following” their blog.
Literally following the virtual trail they’ve left… then sliding around them as you slip into their domain.
I do it all the time. It’s the easiest way to find new blogs, but it takes a certain type of blogger to make these types of connections.
You see most bloggers examine everything too closely.
“Well why did that person like my post?”
“Well why did they like only one…”
“Is it even a real person?”
“What real person calls themselves Fuckadoodle?”
“Can’t be a real blogger… must be a bot.”
Instead of going to “meet and greet” they are examining why the world turns as the world turns around them.
Me on the other hand, I take connection opportunities for what they are worth. A random blogger drops a like, even just one, and I’m hovering my app… I’ll sneak over. I’ll go through their door since it’s open… they left it open when they visited my website.
And I’ll see that it is indeed a real person, often a new blogger. I’ll normally tap on their shoulder in some way and I’ll say “hey, I saw you pass by and wanted to return the favor.” Another connection is made and that’s how you get to 100,000 subscribers if that’s really your goal. That’s how you build whatever it is you want to build.
It’s that simple and it doesn’t matter the size of your media reach. If you aren’t going to grind it out, you won’t ever sustain growth in this game.
I didn’t break the books intentionally.
And no… I don’t bend the spine to break it in half.
My books are missing covers because I read them thousands of times.
Ok there was the one I dropped in the tub while reading, but that’s rarely happened I swear.
I have a problem with branching out. It isn’t some hidden genius illness either, I just have four authors I love and I have reread their books over and over since I was 13. I have a hard time adding to my list.
So no… I didn’t kill those books.
When did you buy that?!?”
Today I am creating a sign on my blog that says “if you were sent here by Linda, go back to her blog. She is much nicer and look! A community blog challenge! Join the fun!”
I wouldn’t ask her to run your online bar though. It might go out of business… -OM

Verily, I say I really get myself into some messes. Like, I don’t think about what my own Saturday posts are going to look like. If you’re looking at this post and thinking, “Why the hell would I hire an editor who starts a sentence with an adverb … especially one like ‘verily,'” know that the prompt made me do it!
Yes, it’s my prompt.
I blame it on lack of coffee.
So, would you look at that! It’s Saturday already! The plan at this point is to take Alex to a movie today–either “The Kid Who Would Be King” or “A Dog’s Way Home.” I’m waiting for Alex to decide. I don’t particularly want to see either of them, but you do these sorts of things for your kids. Especially when they let you sleep in ’til 9:30. Aside from when they woke you up just to tell you…
