7 years ago I chose this platform as my home base.
I could have chosen YouTube or Facebook and gone for money off hits and ads. I could have used powerblogging for many different things. Instead, because I’m a numbers guy and it fascinates me, I went for views and subscribers. Not because I wanted to compete with anyone, there’s far more popular social media users out there, I did it for me. To see what I could do.
They told me “you can’t make a popular website off writing about yourself.” They were wrong.
You can write anything about anything and as long as you have a presence, as long as you give a damn… you can build anything in this netherworld.
You just have to work it.

And you have helped so many bloggers along the way. Me being one of them, you shared my post looong ago and had numerous posts that gave people hints on blogging and your wisdom helped me grow my blog. (I kinda stopped for the last 4 years but getting back on the horse now)

I’m still growing my blog, but you reposted my post one time and that, by far, was one of the best growth moments of my blog. Thank you.
By the way, if anyone wants to follow, I write about adjusting to life as a Nigerian wife, I rant about everything and anything. Thanks. Lol

Wow! I remember you were new to blogging when I joined the blogging world. I left because my world started spinning faster, my to do lists got longer and longer, and when ticking off bucket list adventures I got lost in the moment and didn’t write. Nice to see some familiar faces are still around 🙂

You have done that well, Jason 😀
In May, I have been here for 7 years too and I do remember the different ways, as blogging did look like then. I like the way, as we develop both our blogs and ourselves in here.

Ps, pardon my stupidity but how do hashtags work on wordpress? Are they like tags?

Hashtags don’t work on wordpress unless it’s a tag and then someone has to search it, just like any tag! 😉

You helped me from the beginning and I can’t thank you enough. Although I’ve gone back and forth reinventing myself and my message, I always come back to all the things you taught me. I still struggle trying to understand the IT side of things, numbers, followers etc but I am trying… the struggle is real!

The struggle is real and daily! I get that, and I’m glad to see you still around!

🙂 I am one of the people who supported you from day one.
I believe that one of the reasons that you did well was because the majority of your blog posts were of a highly controversial nature (People love controversy).
And, there are not many people who can boast about having a blog on WordPress that has been active for the period of seven years.
Nicely done, my friend!

Everyone loves to read and discuss controversy, just not necessarily to host it themselves! LoL
How have you been? 😀

Yes I agree, as long as you have a presence and work at it, it’s possible!
