New year, new me

I don’t have to hide anymore.

At least for now.

There may come a time when I’ll have to change the drapes and put a new coat of paint on this blog. For now, I’m feeling like my old self.

You’ll find that if you experience freedom and then it’s taken away, the chains that bind your hands slowly begin to lose their weight after time.

Or at least that’s how it should be.

You may also find that if your website becomes popular enough, it will become popular to hate you. As strong as you may think your domain is, it becomes a house of cards if you knock the right one loose.

I’m fortunate that the tide has moved on. I don’t miss the traffic, I don’t miss the attention. All I’ve ever wanted was a corner to share my thoughts, my dreams, my fears… and sometimes my hate.

I’m glad it’s quiet again. I like the dark.

  1. I left blogging for a while and my follower count always shows me one person, even when other people follow. It’s okay.

I used to visit your blog and I must have missed a lot. Forgive me, but I’m not going to scroll through your blog to find out. Whatever it was – something to do with haters, you are still here.

    Happy New Year!

  2. I didn’t realize that was what was happening. Hate tends to gravitate to the controversial … you’ve always been braver than I. I’m glad to hear it’s passed. The obsession with numbers, too. So all-consuming if we allow it. Here’s to a new year and new beginnings! 😀
So, does this mean I can have my old job back?

  3. Quiet is so relative – but I know what you mean and I was thinking about you just yesterday, dear Jason.
I remember the early days when I met you.
And the blogosphere is such a weird place – at times a pure joy kinda fun comradeship – other times a drain and makes us need to pull back and enjoy the “quiet” and less active seasons.
Oh and like how you use the drapes and Fresh paint analogy.
I am pondering those elements as I look ahead at a new year and what blogging means to me.
Love it – but sometimes it feels like a huge time waster –
Anyhow – looking at drapes options – paint – blinds – and maybe a remodel – ha
