I Am

I have seen what evil looks like when I have looked in the mirror. I have known so much hate that it destroyed the definition that others knew. I have seen the shadow of a man as he grew from a boy and learned himself. I have been both that boy and that man. I learn to love myself each day and accept what I have done in life. I learn to just be and to let the moments be my moment. I am growing to understand what it means to be a good husband and a good father. I have put aside much of what I have been in the past. I live and learn to live with myself each day.

I am.

  1. The road to self-understanding and acceptance can be hard for so many people, and for some the journey is far more traumatic than it is for others. I really like this short piece, and that way you show progression from boy to man; a man who finally finds love and understanding in a family he adores. Putting the past behind us is never easy – but sometimes very necessary if we are to move on and enjoy what life offers now.
Love the way you’ve written this this, Jason.
