Moments

She would ask if I loved her and I would ask her to repeat the question. Not because I hadn’t heard her, but instead dwelling on each hanging syllable and rolling her words around my tongue. I could feel myself appreciating just the opportunity to be around her and in the next moment hating myself for feeling that way. There was simply nowhere else I would rather be. She was everything.
