Q&A with OM

I recently did a post where I opened the thread up for questions. I kind of liked doing that so I will keep it going by opening a permanent page. You may ask me anything here, but I may or may not answer it. Thanks for taking the time to stop by! -OM

  1. First off..I love reading your blog. I am a newbie and I was wondering how many hours a day do you commit to your blog? I’ve had WordPress for one month now and I have about 100 followers and 1800 views; I try to comment on people’s as much as I can.

  2. Ok…….I do follow you but how did you amass the number of hits you get per day. I’ve been blogging since the end of 2009 and still only get between 250 and 300 per day. I don’t get it.

  7. Given your output, my question is practical and completely self-serving. Where/how do you find so much motivation and energy and patience for it all? I apologize if, as seems likely, you/ve answered this one before.

    Like

    1. Generally I don’t have much energy, but I am fortunate enough to be able to blog “some” at work. I also push myself to reach certain goals each day which helps to motivate me. I suppose it is all about what you want, but it is also about what you are good at. Blogging to me is like a game… it is a game. A game of numbers, focused concentration, giving, taking, and repeating. :)

      1. I try to keep it fun myself. The whole numbers thing bugs me and I try to keep my attentoin to it at a minimum, becuase too much is more of a distraction than a motivator. Thanks for your example, it’s been very helpful and informative.

        Like

        1. We use anything for motivation right? If numbers work use numbers. If responses and comments work, use those. I gauge and balance my actions according to a business model that I created to ensure I meet all three areas that I feel make a blog successful. It may not be the perfect model, but it works best for me. That is all we can do right? ;)

  9. Hi, I’m actually asking a favor. Would you mind having a quick look at my home page. I’ve added retail to it and would appreciate a quick “first impression” I respect your opinion and know you’ll be objective. No rush. If you choose not to I understand that as well. 1. They look fine, but if you are truly trying to push a product you need to create a static page that hosts them. Have that static page be your “frontpage” because the sidebar isn’t always visible on a tablet or phone. People therefore may not see your products and that limits sales.

      Like

      1. Thank you for your input. I was afraid you were going to say that. A static page would detract from the visual appeal of my blog, which is a very large part.

If I would like to Guest Blog, do you have criteria to meet and/or a way of contacting you when it is time for it?

Also – I was being serious when I left a comment about Crohn’s. I’d love to talk to you about it. My mother struggled with it really badly until she tried something. It flares up from time to time, but it’s much better now.

  18. Hello OM!
I have not updated my WordPress.com since I switched to WordPress.org, but, today it came to me to check my blogs in WP.COM and in my dashboard there is quite visible your headline, ‘I still hate you…’ WOW! What a welcome back to WP.com! I was shocked! Why would anyone hate me? Are my blogs and my writings that bad?
But then I read your bio and I was relieved! I totally understand you and I do not blame you for such hate in your heart. I know what it is to hate! So, I know that one of these days that hate will go away as it went away from me!
Maybe that’s why I went into my blogs today–to meet and connect with you in a more personal way not just a blogger!
Anyhow, a couple of years back when I got into FB I was following you but then I just did not have the time to debate things and such so I quit fooling with FB.
But now that I am creating new avenues to publish my latest writings who pops up but this dear OM with this opening in your blog for others to publish their work.
Well, that’s what I am writing to you about. My latest writing is long (3417 words) and it is titled THE GREAT FALLEN AWAY. And my question is, Would you let me publish it in your blog?
If is OK with you, then please let me know how to go about it. I have it in Word & PDF formats. I will wait for your answer. Thanks

  19. Just read your posts about adoption and felt terribly sorry for your reactions. We have two adopted children; one insecure and defiant, while the other is most self-confident and progressive. The fault is not with the adoption or the lack of identity, but with the one who lets self-pity and blame prevail. Go forward, young man! Be the best of what you are! When life hands you a lemon, make lemon-aid.

Your page will not be empty, but with any windfall you may find some good friend advice. ;-)

    1. I agree to extent, but a person that is abandoned cannot help but dwell a bit in the past. Especially when that past is an open book and not closed. It is not so much a habit of dwelling in self-pity, but a reflection of internal feelings of anger and hate.

    1. Will people still see all of what? You said “them.” Your links? Posts? It is all about the single view and what you can comfortable fit in that first glance, without overwelming their senses. I wrote some articles on it in my powerblogging/blogging articles link on the left.

  25. First off, thanks for following! And I apologise for not actually having a question for you……but……..
Why would no one want the opinion of an opinionated man? If that was the case would you have so many followers? I am somewhat of a novice at blogging and so far have not really been myself, not giving my opinion! Everyone has one and most, like myself, are so scared to offend the world by saying what they raelly mean. I take my hat off to you, and plan to sneak a few of my open opinions into my own blog. Your offen rude and load in your posts but you are an inspiration! This is my reason I follow you and believe its the reason all your other followers do.

Where do you draw the most inspiration from?

    1. Emotion and random thoughts. I try not to let a thought escape without first examining if it was worth thinking. Many times these become an inspiration for a post, prose, or random post. :)
