Disabling comments is Weak

I don’t understand bloggers that write highly charged articles and then disable the comments section. Are you that weak in the backbone that you won’t allow anyone to make a comment that might not agree with you? How sad must your world be where you only wish to spout your views and not allow anyone to disagree. I am as stubborn as they come and don’t “change my views” just because people or society tells me to, but I still allow people to call me an idiot in my comment section. It doesn’t faze me because I hold onto my beliefs. I need no help from moderation to do that.

If you feel so scared that you need to disable your comment section you should probably stop writing on social media. In fact I would suggest buying a notebook instead. You are obviously not cut out for this.

Yes, this rant is because I tried to comment on someone’s article and there was no option to. So freaking lame. And YES I do read blog posts daily…

  1. I am just on the learning end of how to put in all those little tidbits for everyone – just have not found the ‘dummies for bloggers’ version yet
Helpful suggestions always welcomed and comments too …

  2. I agree in principle, but so many people seem unable to differentiate between disagreement and abuse. I don’t mind people disagreeing with me, but I do have an issue with personal attacks. Also drives me nuts when they do the virtual equivalent of sticking fingers in their hears and refuse to read what’s written before opening their virtual yaps.

Too many people in this world cannot handle the truth and do whatever they can to avoid it.

  4. That has happened to me too… It’s irritating isn’t it. I think you hit the nail on the head. I just got back from a week in the mountains, no internet… and I’m still alive :D Wasn’t sure if I could do it! I have mine set so they can leave a comment, but I get to look at it first so I can reply back to it if I want to but I’ve never deleted or not posted any. Great post/rant! :D

  5. Okay. I read the title of this post (in my email) “Disabling Comments This Weak.” My first thought was, why the hell would Jason disable the comments on his blog? My second thought was, and how drunk must he be to spell the word “week,” “weak”? Then I opened my eyes all the way and read what’s really there. :P
I agree with you, by the way. It’s frustrating as hell.
